How to Overcome Nasal Congestion

Hello, Oatlovers! The rainy season has arrived, colds and flu are starting to approach and disrupt our health. Nasal congestion is very disturbing to our breathing, Breathing becomes uneasy, sleep disturbed, activity is also hampered because of a blocked nose. Frequently taking medication is also not good for the body. There are other ways that are easier and do not need to deal with nasal congestion without the need for medication. Let’s see!

1. Sleep with an extra pillow

If we are experiencing a stuffy nose we should sleep using an extra pillow, this is to prevent shortness of breath and to make us comfortable resting. So when you want to sleep try using 2 extra pillows or pillows to make it comfortable when resting.

2. Drink warm water

Drinking warm water can make a cold or flu become more runny so that the liquid can come out, not only warm mineral water but can also be replaced with warm lemon, ginger milk, warm tea, this contains natural antiseptics and decongestants to facilitate breathing when the nose is blocked.

3. Compress the nose

Compress the nose with a towel and then put the towel on warm water, this is so that the mucus can quickly come out.

How:

  • Prepare a small towel, or handkerchief
  • Put on warm water
  • Place a towel on the nose

Warm water can also be mixed with a little eucalyptus oil to add to the relaxing sensation in the body.

4. Eat garlic

It turns out that garlic contains antibacterial and antifungal agents that are useful as a cure for various health problems, including nasal congestion due to fever and flu. Studies in the United Kingdom showed that participants who were given garlic supplements for 12 consecutive weeks during the flu season were less likely to experience the flu than participants who did not take garlic supplements.

Maybe chewing raw garlic sounds scary. Well, to work around this, saute 1-2 cloves of garlic and add pasta or vegetables. Or, you can add a few slices or collide a clove of garlic into a bowl of hot water to steam your face for 10 minutes.
