Have More Benefits, Let’s Eat Red Rice!

Articles 5 Des 2019

For Oatlovers who are accustomed to healthy living, surely it’s not strange to eat with brown rice. Especially Oatlovers who are on a healthy diet. Brown rice is healthier than white rice because it includes carbohydrates that are low in calories, high in fiber, gluten free and do not contain trans fat. Because of its high fiber content, we will feel full longer.

Carbohydrates in rice will be absorbed into blood sugar, to later be converted into energy. When we eat white rice, blood sugar levels will rise faster than blood sugar levels when eating brown rice. This is also the reason why diabetics are not encouraged to consume white rice, because a sudden increase in blood sugar levels will make insulin (a hormone that helps sugar metabolism) work harder. The glycemic index that is owned by brown rice is also lower than white rice. With a lower glycemic index, brown rice plays a role in maintaining stable blood sugar levels.

Brown rice also contains anthocyanins which are antioxidants that can protect the body from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Oxidative stress can damage cells and cause inflammation. This content is also able to improve eye sight and inhibit tumor growth.

The vitamins and minerals contained in brown rice help boost the immune system, accelerate healing and enhance the body’s ability to fight infection. Eating brown rice can also help the formation of red blood cells, sterotonin, to metabolize carbohydrates from the content of vitamin B. Rich in magnesium and calcium, brown rice is very helpful for maintaining healthy bones and is beneficial for medical conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis.

Have you thought about replacing white rice with brown rice, or not? There are many other benefits you know if we consume brown rice, which is lowering cholesterol, preventing the formation of blood clots, reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and helping in the prevention of colon cancer, breast cancer and leukemia.

Maybe there are some of you who feel less compatible with brown rice because of its rougher texture, and if it is not cooked properly, the rice becomes hard. Cooking tips are after the rice is washed, cook rice in a ratio of 3: 1, which is 3 cups of water for 1 cup of brown rice. Oatlovers can also cook brown rice mixed with white rice. Don’t forget, it’s better to keep brown rice warm to keep it soft and durable. Because if brown rice is left at room temperature, brown rice will quickly harden.

Since brown rice contains a lot of fiber, Oatlovers must compensate by drinking plenty of water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day so that digestion is smooth, Oatlovers will not experience bloating or constipation. Come on, try replacing the white rice into red rice for a healthier lifestyle.
