How to Prevent Mosquitos Bites

Articles 22 Nov 2018

Mosquitoes are considered to be the most dangerous animal in the world. Mosquitoes are allegedly responsible for hundreds of millions of malaria cases every year. However, mosquitoes also transmit a number of other diseases, including the West Nile virus, yellow fever, and dengue fever. There are many reasons to take every possible step to avoid mosquito bites without even taking into account the intense itching. Here’s how to prevent mosquito bites.

1. Use mosquito repellent lotion

Various specially formulated mosquito repellents are available for sale at camping or sports supply stores. Apply lotion to the surface of the skin that is open when outside the house, especially during the day. When using sunscreen, apply before applying mosquito repellent lotion.

2. Consider using natural ingredients

Experiment with non-chemical solutions such as Citronella (natural plant oil). Tea Tree Oil and B vitamins are reported to have helped some people to repel mosquitoes. As with any product, its effectiveness depends on the situation, and the exact type of mosquito it is facing.

3. Use clothes that are loose and closed when outside

One of the best ways to prevent mosquitoes from biting is to cover the skin. Wear a closed and loose shirt. It functions for: first, far more comfortable in hot and humid weather where mosquitoes develop. Second, mosquitoes can sometimes bite clothes that stick tightly to the skin, especially if the fabric is thin.

4. Avoid mosquito habitat

Unfortunately, mosquitoes live on every continent except Antarctica. However, they generally prefer in warmer, wetter areas, which tend to be close to the equator. Mosquitoes are often attracted to water, especially stagnant water, into lakes, stagnant tributaries, especially during hot weather. Most species of mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water and some even adapt to laying their eggs in salt water. Stay away from stagnant water bodies, whether it’s a small pool of water or a large swamp, to reduce the risk of facing mosquitoes.

Besides using mosquito repellent, the key to avoiding insect bites is to maintain the cleanliness of the house and surrounding environment regularly. And do not forget to protect the skin from mosquito bites in several ways above.
